Dr. Simeons says, “One cannot keep a patient comfortably on 500 calories unless his normal fat reserves are reasonably well stocked.” What he’s saying is that you have to get enough fat in your system for the HCG to feed on, so you don’t feel starving as the HCG makes its way through your body in the first couple of days of the HCG Protocol.
Here are a few helpful hints for getting the most out of your HCG gorge days:
- You don’t have to eat everything at mealtimes. If you can eat something every couple of hours, you’ll be able to eat more and maybe avoid feeling too stuffed.
- In addition to high-fat foods, make sure to have any foods you think you might crave or miss while on the VLCD/Phase 2. It might even keep you from cheating during the VLCD.
- Don’t feel that you have to eat all fried foods, there are healthier high-fat options like avocados, Greek yogurt, and nuts.
- Yes, the goal is to eat as much as possible in these two days, but don’t go so far as to make yourself sick.
- You don’t have to feel guilty! The more fatty foods you can eat, the more you’ll appreciate the healthy foods in Phase 2/VLCD.
- Some HCG gorge ideas include peanut butter, full-fat Greek yogurt, avocados, fried foods, nuts, bacon, sausage, cheese, full-fat salad dressings.
