What’s On Your Bucket List?
You have a bucket list, right? If you’re not clear on what a bucket list is, per Merriam’s dictionary, a bucket list is “a list of things that one has not done before but wants to do before dying.” You may be thinking to yourself, “Of course I have an idea of some things I’d like to do in my lifetime, but I’ve never taken the time to actually write those things down on a piece of paper… does that matter?
It seems that writing things down practically puts things in motion. Of course, there is more to it than quickly jotting something down and then waiting for things to magically just come to you, but it’s a start. If you don’t have a written list, get going! Don’t limit yourself to things like places you want to travel. Instead, focus on the big things you want out of life and include the following areas: social, financial, and spiritual. Here are some of my big ones:
- Vacation in a hut over water somewhere fabulous like Fiji or Tahiti
- Somehow have enough money to make a $10,000 donation to the charity of my choice
- Meet Albert Pujols
- See Amy, my very happy 9-yr old daughter who has Downs Syndrome, live on her own
- Celebrate a 50-year wedding anniversary. This is going to have to be with my current husband (30 years down, 20 to go) because I don’t have time to start over:)
Here I am crossing one item off my list — “take a hot air balloon ride over the desert” — check.
O.K., it’s your turn. Give me some of your plans because I am always looking for something to add or upgrade on my list. Also, we would love to hear when you check some items off of your bucket list. Just post on our Facebook page and we can all celebrate together!
